This has led to 10,000 fewer outpatient clinic appointments since its inception, creating capacity in the Outpatients Department for more complex patients, new patients and patients receiving scan results.

Ground-breaking trial to treat brain tumours begins at Velindre

A major UK clinical trial to treat the most aggressive brain tumour has opened at the Velindre Cancer Centre. It will investigate whether combining cannabinoids and chemotherapy can help extend the lives of people diagnosed with recurrent glioblastoma.

Celebrating a first for the Trust!

Becky Bowey, who works at Velindre Cancer Centre Outpatients Department, has become Velindre University NHS Trust’s first Assistant Practitioner, having advanced from being a Healthcare Support Worker to a Trainee Assistant Practitioner.
