We are arranging two workshops to bring the community together to generate ideas and discussions on the future of the Whitchurch Hospital site.
These sessions are part of Velindre’s ongoing commitment to keeping the community informed and involved as plans for the site progress. The site holds historical and emotional importance to many in our community, including Velindre who has been a neighbour since the Velindre Cancer Centre opened in 1956.
Velindre University NHS Trust became the legal owner of the Whitchurch Hospital buildings and surrounding land in November 2024, following a transfer from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
In October 2025, we announced that we had invited interested parties to express their interest in the property as part of stage of the sale process.
After the two workshops there will be a report capturing the community’s insights and ideas that will be shared with any potential future developers. The report will be made publicly available.
These sessions will be led by an experienced third-party facilitator. We will run two sessions scheduled to take place on April 17 and April 18.
The Trust is committed to acting as a responsible landowner and engaging openly with our partners and the community.
The two workshops will be identical so you will only be able to attend one of them.
Spaces are limited and booking is essential.
