Three colleagues from across the organisation have jointly won this year's People's Choice Award.

The award was recently presented as part of Velindre University NHS Trust's annual Employee Excellence Awards, at which a total of 20 individuals and teams were recognised.

During the summer, members of the public were invited to nominate colleagues from across our divisions for the People's Choice Award category, and we were thrilled with the response.

A total of 38 nominations were made for staff from the Welsh Blood Service, Velindre Cancer Service and our corporate services, which is the highest number received since the reintroduction of the awards after the pandemic.

From those submissions, a panel of judges shortlisted five colleagues and determined that there be three winners (in bold):

• Dr Annabel Borley, a Consultant at the Velindre Cancer Service (VCS)
• Ashley Bowen-Jones, Donor Contact Centre Team Leader at the Welsh Blood Service
• Carlie Watson, a Clinical Nurse Specialist at VCS
• Michele Pengelly, a Supportive Care Lead Nurse at VCS
• Michelle Norton, a Clinical Nurse Specialist at VCS
