If you have your bloods taken at Velindre Cancer Centre as part of your chemotherapy treatment, there will be a small change to when this happens which will affect some patients.

Who will this affect?

This change will affect patients who:

  • have bloods taken before Day 8 and Day 15 of their treatment cycle

and

  • have bloods taken at Velindre Cancer Centre.

What’s changing?

Currently, blood tests are done on the morning of Day 7 and Day 14 of your treatment cycle, with the treatments given on Day 8 and Day 15.

From 2 June 2025, all future bookings for bloods will be made for the afternoon of Day 6 and Day 13 instead.

Why is this changing?

This change will help us to:

  • Get your blood results back sooner.
  • Give our pharmacy team more time to prepare your treatment safely.
  • Allow your clinical team more time to review your results and make any necessary changes.
  • Reduce waiting times in the morning clinics.

We really appreciate your support in attending at the time specified on your appointment letter.
