Celebrating Success at the Medical Engagement Conference

Velindre University NHS Trust hosted this year's Medical Engagement Conference at Sophia Gardens.

“Today is about standing back and looking at the number of different innovations, improvements and areas of transformation that we are leading”

- Dr Jacinta Abraham, Executive Medical Director

The conference provided a platform to celebrate the achievements of medical staff and foster collaboration between VCS and WBS. The agenda was built around 4 key sessions:

  • Research & Development (Chair: Prof. Rob Jones)

  • Developing our Future Workforce (Chair: Dr Indu Thakur)

  • Innovations and Improvements (Dr Richard Webster)

  • Our Leadership Profile (Dr Mick Button)

The event also featured a networking lunch and exhibition spaces showcasing Trust departments and sponsors.

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear two compelling keynote speeches from Professor Phil Kloer, Chief Executive of Hywel Dda University Health Board, and Professor Rich Withnall, Chief Executive of the Faculty of Medical Leadership & Management. Their insights shed light on the landscape of medical leadership in both Wales and across the UK.

“The Velindre Medical Engagement Conference opened up new opportunities to engage with established NHS leaders, showcase the work of excellence and share the knowledge through networking opportunities. It will ultimately benefit people in the Wales.”

- Kalinga Perera,

Welsh Blood Service Consultant and the Medical Director of the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry
