We are delighted to announce that Lindsay Foyster has been appointed Vice Chair of Velindre University NHS Trust.
Lindsay joined the Trust’s Board as an independent member for Diversity and Inclusion on a four-year term in May 2024, bringing with her a wealth of strategic experience in the third and public sectors.
The Trust’s Board exists to oversee the system of governance and control, including risk management. This means that the board make decisions on how things run and how to keep staff and patients safe. They do so by meeting in many different groups focused on separate areas of the trust’s operations, known as ‘committees.’
Lindsay said, "I am honoured to be appointed as the Vice Chair of Velindre University NHS Trust, having served as an Independent Member for the last year.
"This is an important and exciting time for the organisation and I am deeply committed to the valuable work that we do for people locally and across Wales.
"I look forward to working with colleagues, staff, donors, patients and partners in contributing to the continued success and further development of the Trust."
Currently a Lay Member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Lindsay has also served as Chair of the Wales Audit Office Board between 2020-2023 and was a non-executive Board member there since 2015.
Lindsay has had a distinguished career in the charity sector in Wales, including as the Director for Mind Cymru between 1995 and 2014, having previously held positions in mental health development and support work.
Lindsay was also a school governor for many years including as Chair and Vice-chair, as well as serving briefly as a local Community Councillor. She was the Corporate Diversity Lead for Mind and the Non-Executive Board Diversity and Equality Champion at Audit Wales.
In Lindsay’s spare time, she volunteers as one of the first Community Welfare Responders with the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust for her local communities in the Caerphilly and Newport area.
