We are proud to announce that Velindre University NHS Trust has now achieved Disability Confident Level 3 – Leader status, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to inclusion and accessibility in the workplace.
The Disability Confident scheme, developed by the UK Government, supports employers in making the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the workforce. Level 3, the highest tier, recognises organisations that not only embed inclusive practices internally but also actively champion disability confidence in their communities and supply chains.
What this means in practice is that we actively invite people to discuss any adjustments that would help when coming for interview and then when they work with us, we give specialist training to line managers on aspects of managing staff with different needs and we have a Staff Network dedicated to Disability where people from across the organisation can work together to improve the workplace and reduce barriers experienced by people with disabilities.
This achievement reflects the Trust’s ongoing dedication to equality, diversity, and the wellbeing of all staff and patients. As a Disability Confident Leader, Velindre is now positioned to influence wider change, helping to break down barriers and promote a more inclusive society.
We would like to extend our thanks to our People and Organisational Development Team for this momentous achievement, and to all of our staff for continuing to uphold an inclusive and progressive culture.
