First patients treated at Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit

We are delighted to share that as of June 2025, Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit is open and operational - helping us to make high-quality cancer care more accessible to South East Wales.

The Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit increases our capacity to deliver radiotherapy treatments by 20%. Staffed by a dedicated team of Velindre Cancer Service experts, the Unit operates as an extension of Velindre Cancer Centre in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

We'd like to express our biggest thanks to everyone who helped to facilitate the smooth and safe opening of the unit. The successful launch of the unit reflects the dedication and expertise of our teams, whose commitment ensures patients continue to receive exceptional care.

John, a current patient at the Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit, shared how having a dedicated car park has made a real difference. It has helped in removing the stress of finding a space, making it easier to get to his appointments on time.

Another patient reflected on the time he used to spend travelling over an hour from Ebbw Vale to the Velindre Cancer Centre in Whitchurch for previous treatment. Now, with the new unit closer to home, he can leave just 20 minutes before his appointment - making treatment far more manageable.
