Collaborating for success on International Clinical Trials Day

20 May 2025

Collaboration is key to the success of any clinical trial and on International Clinical Trials Day, 20 May 2025 we are shining a spotlight on the way we work together to deliver the innovative clinical trials that Velindre is known for.

Our team in the Research and Development office work to set up a trial, looking at feasibility, protocols, quality and safety. Once a trial is underway, the R&D office capture the data from the trial and take care of the monitoring and reporting.

Across Velindre Cancer Service, our teams bring the research to life for patients. From research nurses, research radiographers and medical physics staff to pharmacists and clinicians, everyone plays their part in delivering clinical trials and providing the best of care for our patients.

Clinical trials can’t happen without the support of the wider health system, working with a network of specialities and funders. These partners enable us to wide our scope for research and offer cutting edge treatments to our patients.

Without patients volunteering to take part in clinical trials, cancer science and treatment would not progress. We are very grateful to our patients who commit to research that will make a difference for patients of the future.

Lastly, a special mention to the people who donate to our own Velindre Cancer Charity who provide funding support for clinical trials. Thank you for holding Velindre Cancer Service in your hearts and for your generous support.
