Ceri Doyle joins the Board of Velindre University NHS Trust

15 October 2025

Velindre University NHS Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Ceri Doyle as its new Independent Member.

Ceri was the former Chief Executive Officer of Newport City Homes (NCH), a social business providing a range of housing in south-east Wales. Prior to NCH she was the Chief Executive of the UK's largest lottery funding distributor and has also held senior roles in in local government.

A Welsh Woman of the Year finalist, Ceri has also held many non-executive positions in the health, education and arts sectors, and remains an active advisor to public service bodies in Wales and Council Member of the Open University.

Speaking of the new appointment, Ceri said:

"I’m honoured to be joining Velindre University NHS Trust and contribute to its vital work delivering care and support to patients and families across Wales.

“I look forward to meeting and working with colleagues across the Trust, and meeting patients to build on the strong foundations and services that respond to the needs of our communities and partners.”

The Trust’s Board exists to oversee the system of governance and control, including risk management. This means that the board make decisions on how things run and how to keep staff and patients safe. They do so by meeting in many different groups focused on separate areas of the trust’s operations, known as ‘committees.’

As an independent member, Ceri's role will be to contribute her skills and expertise across a wide range of areas. Her extensive experience in social housing development, innovative funding programmes, and community regeneration will bring a number of benefits to Velindre University NHS Trust.

Ceri will begin in her role on Monday 27 October and will attend her first Trust Board meeting on Thursday 27 November.
