Executive Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Health Science

Nicola qualified as a nurse in 1990 and has worked in the NHS ever since. Her early years were spent as a surgical nurse across a variety of different specialities. As well as being a passionate nurse, Nicola has always had a strong focus on quality, safety, patient experience and quality improvement. She has led on a number of improvement programmes that have been implemented across Wales, such as preventing the development of pressure ulcers and developing systems for monitoring nursing standards from ward level through to Welsh Government level.

In her current role, Nicola is really proud to be able to not only represent Nursing on the Board but also the Allied Health Professionals and Healthcare Scientists. She has a lead role in respect of the Duty of Quality and Duty of Candour implementation plans for Wales, currently chairs the Executive Director of Nursing Peer Group and has recently taken on the role as the Senior Responsible Officer for the Speaking up Safely Framework.
