Glossary of Terms

  • Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)
    AHPs work with all age groups and within all specialities. Examples include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, etc. Their particular skills and expertise can be the most significant factor in helping people to:
    • recover movement or mobility.
    • overcome visual problems.
    • improve nutritional status.
    • develop communication skills.
    • restore confidence in everyday living skills.
       
  • Executive Management Board
    The senior Executive Directors who are responsible for the operation of Velindre University NHS Trust. These include the Chief Executive, Executive Medical Director, Executive Director of Nursing, AHP’s and Healthcare Scientists, Executive Director of Finance, Executive Director of Strategic Transformation, Planning and Digital, Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, Director of Cancer Services, Director of Welsh Blood Service and Director of Corporate Governance/Chief of Staff.

 

  • Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
    A multidisciplinary team is a group of health and are staff who are members of different professions and/or organisations that work together to make decisions regarding the treatment of individual patients.
