Prof Jane Hopkinson is on the academic staff of the School of Healthcare Sciences, Cardiff University. She trained as a nurse at the Middlesex Hospital, London, qualifying in 1984, and then practised as a cancer and palliative care nurse prior to becoming an academic researcher in 2001. She has gained an international profile as a nurse researcher with expertise in supportive care of people with cancer. She currently leads the Emotional, Supportive and Palliative Care Research Group, Cardiff University, is a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Supportive & Palliative Care Clinical Studies Group and member of the Scientific Board of the Cancer Cachexia Hub, Helsinn Healthcare. Jane has authored more than 80 peer reviewed publications and frequently speaks at national and international clinical and scientific meetings.

Jane is the chair of the Research & Development Committee and Vice Chair of the Trust Audit Committees. Her term of office is October 2012 to September 2019.
