Veggies for Velindre receive Volunteer Award and surprise visit from High Sheriff of Mid Glamorgan

Morgan and Seren receive their award from the High Sheriff and Donna Mead.

31 October 2023

Cast your minds back to the Employee Excellence Awards and you will remember that Velindre Young Ambassadors Seren and Morgan Lewis-Dawe were the proud winners of the Trust Volunteer Award.

This dynamic duo was recognised for their outstanding contribution to their local community of Treherbert through their unique initiative Veggies for Velindre which has also raised over £2,000 for the Velindre Charity.

On Saturday 28 October 2023, the Dawe family were surprised with a visit from Prof Jean White CBE, High Sheriff of Mid Glamorgan and Prof Donna Mead OBE, Chair of Velindre University NHS Trust who presented the award to both Seren and Morgan in person.

Despite the downpour of rain that gave the vegetable plants a good dose of watering, the presentation was a huge success and left our young supporters speechless. The event was a joyous occasion finishing with a grand tour of the allotment led by both Young Ambassadors who were beaming to share their home-grown creations and motives for wanting to make a difference.
