Five nominations for this year's Moondance Awards

25 April 2024

Teams and individuals from across Velindre University NHS Trust have been nominated for several awards to celebrate brilliant people and brave ideas across Wales.

The Trust has picked up five nominations for this year’s Moondance Cancer Awards and various colleagues from across the organisation have been shortlisted as part of collaborations across the NHS Wales.

Three services from Velindre Cancer Centre received nominations across the Achievement and Innovation & Improvement categories, in addition to a team from the Welsh Blood Service and the Cancer Centre who were also nominated in the Achievement category.

One of those teams to have made the shortlist was the Immunotherapy Toxicity Service, whose co-lead, Dr Ricky Frazer, was also nominated individually in the Excellence category.

Colleagues from across the Trust who contributed to the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Workforce Planning and QuicDNA programmes were also nominated in the Achievement and Innovation & Improvement categories.

Part of the team behind the latter is cancer patient and fundraiser, Craig Maxwell, who has raised almost £500,000 for the programme which aims to dramatically impact the diagnosis of lung cancer in Wales. Together with the QuicDNA Team, he has been nominated for two awards in both the Achievement and Innovation & Improvement categories.
