Bringing art into our new home: First nVCC commissions launched

We are pleased to share that the first set of arts commissions for the new Velindre Cancer Centre are now live.

We recently published the initial opportunities across NHS procurement platforms, marking an important milestone in the development of the nVCC’s art and design programme.

This marks a major milestone in delivering an art and design programme that reflects Velindre’s values, brings a strong contemporary identity into our new home and creates an environment that promotes wellbeing for patients, families, visitors and staff.

Our nVCC is scheduled to open spring 2027 and alongside delivering world-class cancer care, our new centre will create a healing environment that reduces stress, promotes dignity and supports the needs of our patients and staff.

About these first commissions

These initial commissions represent the first phase of a wider programme that will see artwork integrated throughout the nVCC, both internally and externally.

These commissions have been shaped by the revised public art strategy, developed in partnership with Studio Response and informed by our multidisciplinary Arts MDT and colleagues across Velindre.
