QuicDNA project nominated for two Moondance awards

A pioneering study led by Dr Magda Meissner, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Velindre Cancer Centre, and Sian Morgan, Director of the All-Wales Medical Genomics Service, has been nominated for two national awards.

Lindsay Foyster joins the Board of Velindre University NHS Trust

Velindre University NHS Trust is pleased to welcome the appointment of Lindsay Foyster as a new Independent Board Member. Lindsay joins the Trust’s Board at Velindre on a four-year term and comes to the organisation with a wealth of strategic experience in the third and public sectors.

Clinical Psychology and Counselling specialist receives British Empire Medal

Sarah Bull’s honour was announced in the New Year’s Honours List 2024 and a special ceremony took place at the Coed Y Mwster Hotel, near Bridgend. Part of the Clinical Psychology team at Velindre Cancer Centre, Sarah has been recognised for services to palliative care during an outstanding career that has spanned several decades.

New scheme launched to recycle walking aids at Velindre Cancer Centre

A new scheme has been launched by Velindre Cancer Centre to recycle hundreds of walking aids a year. There are over 1.5 million people in the population supported by Velindre Cancer Centre and it welcomed 9,000 new patient referrals through its doors in 2023. Many of these patients need walking aids.

Our egg-cellent Young Ambassadors spread some Easter cheer

A number of the Trust’s Young Ambassadors volunteered to help distribute the 400 Easter eggs which were kindly donated once again by Motonovo Finance, having doubled their donation from last year.
