Plain Film Radiography

Plain film radiography

What is 'Plain film' radiography (Computed Radiography CR)?
For many patients, this is the most commonly encountered type of radiological investigation. Examinations do not take long to carry out and can reveal a great deal of information about a condition.

Images are captured on an imaging plate. The plate is then read by a laser and this produces a ‘digital’ image. Images are stored electronically and made available to doctors and other health professionals. Images can be viewed either within Velindre or at other hospitals (if applicable). This means images can be accessed simultaneously from a variety of locations and treatments can be planned far more efficiently.
