Macmillan Interim Head of Therapies / Physiotherapist
Kate qualified from Nottingham University School of Physiotherapy in 2003 and joined Velindre Cancer Centre in 2006. She is now in the position of Deputy Head of Therapies. Kate has recently completed her MSc in Palliative Care and has also completed post graduate training in acupuncture, pilates and post-operative connective tissue assessment. One of Kate’s specialist interests lies in breast cancer/rehabilitation. Outside of work, Kate has a busy family life and enjoys keeping active on the tennis court.
Siobhan MSc Palliative Care, BSc (Hons), HCPC, MCSP
Macmillan Interim Deputy Head of Therapies/Physiotherapist
Siobhan qualified as a physiotherapist from Cardiff University in 2007 and joined Velindre Cancer Centre in 2010, initially as a specialist Physiotherapist. She is now in post as the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist. Siobhan has completed an MSc in Palliative Care, along with post graduate training in Pilates and post-operative connective tissue rehabilitation. Outside of work, Siobhan has a busy family life, she enjoys cooking, socialising and keeping active.
Alison BSc (Hons) MCSP, HCPC, AACP
Macmillan Interim Clinical Lead Physiotherapist
Advanced Practice Gynae-Oncology Physiotherapist
Alison qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2007 and joined Velindre Cancer Centre in 2011. Alison has a particular interest in Women’s Health and in 2020 took on a new role working as an Advanced Practice Gynae-Oncology Physiotherapist. She is a member pf the Gynaecology multi-disciplinary team, practices acupuncture and has completed post graduate training in Pilates. In her spare time Alison enjoys spending time with her young family, as well as cooking and running.
Bethan BSc (Hons), HCPC, MCSP, AACP
Macmillan Specialist Oncology Physiotherapist
Bethan qualified as a physiotherapist in 2010 and joined the Velindre physiotherapy team in 2016. She worked on the Macmillan Activity Promotion Programme (MAPP) delivering physical activity and education sessions to patients across South East Wales. Bethan is now a specialist inpatients physiotherapist and works as a member of the Physiotherapy physical activity team. She enjoys keeping fit and plays competitive tennis in her spare time.

Kate qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003. After completing junior and senior II rotations in Swansea NHS Trust, Kate worked as a Senior Orthopaedic Physiotherapist in Cardiff & Vale UHB until 2018. Having developed an interest in oncology, Kate joined Velindre Cancer Centre in September 2018 to work in the newly established Acute Oncology Assessment Unit. This is a new and developing role and is the first of its kind in Wales. Outside of work, Kate has a busy family life, enjoys swimming and is a keen rugby supporter.
Helena BSc (Hons), HCPC, MCSP
Specialist Oncology Physiotherapist
Helena qualified from Cardiff University in 2014 and has gained a broad range of experience working in Cardiff and Vale and Nottingham University Hospitals. Helena joined the Velindre physiotherapy team in 2019 as a specialist inpatient physiotherapist and is a member of the neuro-oncology multi-disciplinary team. In her spare time Helena enjoys white water kayaking and climbing.
Bethan - BSc (Hons) HCPC, MCSP, AACP
Macmillan Specialist Oncology Physiotherapist
Bethan graduated from Cardiff University in 2011, and joined the Physiotherapy team at Velindre in 2019. Bethan works within the outpatient services and is a member of the lung multi-disciplinary team. Bethan’s skills including post breast surgery rehabilitation and acupuncture. In her spare time, Bethan enjoys travelling, walking her dog, singing in a choir and playing the harp.
Hannah BA (Hons), PGCE
Generic Therapy Technician (GTT)
Hannah has previously worked as a Joint Therapy support worker providing access to Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services in North Bristol Trust. She joined Velindre Cancer Centre in 2019. During her time at Velindre Hannah has completed an NVQ level 4 in Physical Activity and Cancer. Outside of work Hannah enjoys keeping active by swimming, walking and running. Hannah is a keen traveller and enjoys visiting new countries and experiencing new cultures.
Fiona
Generic Therapies Technician (GTT)
Fiona has been working in palliative care for over 10 years and joined the Therapy team at Velindre Cancer Centre in February 2019. During her time at Velindre Fiona has completed an NVQ level 4 in Physical Activity and Cancer. When not in work, Fiona enjoys spending time with friends and family and being beside the sea.
