Developing our staff

We are lucky to have fantastic staff working at across Velindre University NHS Trust who make a difference every day to the treatment and care of our patients, our donors and their families. We take the development of our staff seriously and strive to offer opportunities that will allow our staff to fulfil their potential and ambitions. 

All new starters are welcomed into the organisation during the Trust induction, which is supported by a local department induction. All staff are able to access a range of training and education during their employment, including any individual training needs identified with their manager to support them in developing their role and career.  We have strong links with local Further and Higher education providers, and a proven track record of supporting staff to achieve externally accredited qualifications such as Degrees, Masters, and PhDs.  The Trust also has a reputation for wholeheartedly engaging with national and international workstreams, ensuring that our specialist expertise and unique perspective is fully represented, and the organisation consistently supports staff from various professional groups to become involved in this work.

In addition to providing a wide range of professional and personal development Velindre fundamentally values the health and wellbeing of its staff. We offer staff opportunities to become involved in a range of health and wellbeing initiatives, as well as accessing support such as personal coaching and mindfulness.
