Welsh language

Velindre University NHS Trust celebrates the Welsh Language and its cultural importance to Wales.  As a caring organisation that promotes and understands the value of meeting communication needs, we will provide person centred services and take a planned approach to all that we do.

The Welsh language is an integral part of people’s lives and the Trust is committed to supporting its patients, donors and staff in ensuring they can access the provision they need in both English and Welsh.

Providing a bilingual service to patients and donors is more than a choice, it can be a clinical need to some people and the Trust is aware that in order to support that clinical need, providing services in the Welsh language makes a real difference to a person’s care and continued improvement.

The Welsh language is an integral part of people’s lives and the Trust is committed to supporting its patients, donors and staff in ensuring they can access the provision they need in both English and Welsh.

With new data available stating the rise in the number of the Welsh speakers, it is a positive time to plan, promote and provide the services that ultimately affect the care and support that people across the whole of Wales, need.

We will continue to work with the Welsh Government and support their ambitions of a million Welsh speakers and we are working in partnership with the Welsh language Commissioner and other Health Boards and Trust’s to ensure our patients and donors receive the best care we can provide.
