Patients and families at centre of new cancer plans

Paul Hunter, who’s 26, was treated by us for testicular cancer and said: “I‘m happy to help out in any way possible. It was really enlightening to work with a range of people with different cancer experiences.

Rhian Jenkins had treatment for ovarian cancer with us. “ A number of younger cancer patients are really keen to influence how services are delivered in future. Things like more flexibility in appointments are really important when you’re working.”

Dr Phil Webb, Trust associate director of planning and performance, will be writing the strategy and has been running the groups.

“We’ve been working closely with staff and with the patient liaison group at Velindre on the new strategy. Having the focus groups provides an even deeper seam of views.”
