About Me

Interim Executive Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professionals and Health Science

Gill is a registered nurse with a career spanning over 35 years, marked by senior leadership roles across clinical practice, education, management, and policy. With a strong background in cancer care, she has worked across a range of care sectors within the NHS, Cancer Services Coordinating Group, third sector, Wales Cancer Network, and Welsh Government.

In January 2018, Gill transitioned to a government role as a Nursing Officer, with a focus on workforce and regulation. She was appointed Deputy Chief Nursing Officer in April 2025. In this role, she supported the Chief Nursing Officer by leading key policy areas, including Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) regulation, education, workforce growth, and professional nursing and midwifery strategy development working across the system on implementation.

Gill has played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Nurse Staffing Levels (Wales) Act 2016 and in underpinning policy for the introduction of Registered Nursing Associate (RNA) role in Wales. Her commitment to global nursing development is reflected in her ongoing work with third-sector organisations.
