Who are we?

Supportive Care - Lead Nurse, Michele Pengelly

Michele can help support you and your family whilst you are here through:

Listening to things you want to discuss and help talk through.

Help with information and services supporting parent(s) / grandparent(s) with cancer to explain cancer and its treatment to children. Michele wrote the “Caring for my family with cancer” children’s book. This helps parent(s) with a new cancer diagnosis talk to their children about cancer and treatments. Contact Michele directly for a copy.

Give written information or links to web sites that can explain more about your illness, its treatment and any future plans about your care.

Help with information you may have questions about.

With your approval, help with speaking to your doctor or other health professional.

Michele works with the bereavement counsellor in City Hospice, Cardiff running a Children's bereavement group twice yearly.

The Welfare Rights Team

As a Welfare Rights advisors, we can help in applications for:

  • Health related benefits (Employment and Support Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance)
  • Carers Allowance -
  • Means tested benefits and Tax Credits, carrying out benefit checks
  • Disabled parking badges -
  • Benefit tribunals
  • Grants

The Patient  Information and Support Services Manager

Supporting bespoke information and support for patients, families and carers.

Helping with information about travel insurance, local support and finding the information you need.

Support with carers assessments, befriending services, local groups and what support may be in your area.
Information centre open 24/7. Provides extensive library of information in a range of formats and languages. Situated next to Parkside Dining Room.

Hospital Chaplaincy

Providing a confidential service in spiritual and pastoral care. Religious support for patients, relatives, staff and students.

Always ready to listen and trained to help you make sense of all that may be happening to you.

Can contact other faiths or religions on your behalf.

A multi faith room situated on the main corridor for spiritual needs that supports most faiths.
