Why do we need a clinical and scientific strategy?

The Clinical and Scientific Strategy that will set the direction for workforce the next 5 years, through a clear shared vision and strategic aims that are based on our priorities. The strategy will help inform the organisations operational plans and improve the delivery of our clinical and scientific service.

The document will also include a set of core clinical and scientific principles to underpin our work. An example of this could be - to work with other to deliver local, accessible, and equitable, person-centred services in response to changing need and priorities.

The strategy will ensure that we maximise opportunities to improve patient and donor experience, provide the best care and most effective treatment for patients, whilst also providing a stimulating and empowering environment for all staff across the Trust to thrive.

This strategy is one of several enabling documents that will help the Trust to achieve the Velindre Cancer Strategy, the Welsh Blood Strategy and the overarching Trust Strategy ‘Destination 2033.’

When developing the strategy, we will ensure that it aligns and fits in with local and national strategies and programmes.
