Keeping Up to Date

There are vasts amount of literature published every day but there are various ways in which the library can help you keep up to date with research in your subject area.

KnowledgeShare

KnowledgeShare is a new service which helps staff stay up to date by providing regular updates of evidence in their field. It can also be used to request more detailed literature searches and helps staff connect with the library and other individuals with shared interests.

To sign up please fill in the form and return it to the library.

Journal Alerts

Journal alerts allow you to keep up to date with newly published articles from your favourite journals. Most journal titles will allow you to set up alerts directly, alternatively there are tools to help!

JournalTOCs is a freely available collection of scholarly journal Tables of Contents (TOCs),  It is for anyone who's looking for the latest or most current papers published in the scholarly literature. It is free, searchable, and provides alerts on request. To sign up follow the link to their website.

Database Alerts

Search alerts can be set up within databases to provide automatic notification when new results are available. They are an easy and effective way of gathering scholarly information on your subject without having to constantly re-enter the exact search terms into a databases.

The library can set up database alerts on subjects for you or we can help you compose and save a search within a database.

Please contact us for more information.

Twitter

Twitter can be a good way of keeping up to date with literature that has been published in your subject area and it can also be a good way of keeping up with news items and grey literature by following organisation and people that are relevant.

You don't have to tweet anything yourself you can just follow organisations, journals and key people but it can also be a good way of building your professional network.

The library has a twitter account which we use to alert followers to recently published articles or other key documents or news items. Follow us @VCCLibrary.

We recognise that some staff do not wish to engage on social media and sign up to Twitter so look out for our Friday Tweets email!
The library sends round an email to all staff of the trust highlighting the key things we have tweeted that week and most importantly publications by Velindre Staff!

Let us know if you have had something published and we can add it!
