The cancer centre will get a taste of the red carpet next month after featuring as a nominee for this year’s BAFTA Cymru awards.
Staff and patients who starred in the ITV Wales production, Velindre – Hospital of Hope, can share in the glitz and glamour of being nominated for best factual series.
The four part series, broadcast last year, was billed as a portrait of Velindre Cancer Centre, “capturing the human stories behind the cancer statistics and diagnostics”.

Andrea Hague, Director of the Velindre Cancer Centre, said, “What lovely news! For many of us, memories of the series are still strong. But it’s great to think that the BAFTA ceremony will remind others, and tell some for the first time, about the powerful stories generated by our staff every day.”
The British Academy Cymru Awards honour excellence in broadcasting and production within film, games and television in Wales.
The awards ceremony will take place on 13 October at St David’s Hall, Cardiff and will be presented by Huw Stephens.
It will be live streamed on Facebook and YouTube.
