Independent Member - Audit
A qualified accountant and auditor, Martin trained as an accountant in local government in south Wales before continuing his financial management career in the NHS. He joined the Welsh Government in 1999 and was responsible for the establishment of the NHS counter fraud service for Wales. When Head of Corporate Governance within the Welsh Government, Martin led the development of risk management strategies and published the guide Risk Essentials.
Martin joined Forestry Commission Wales as Director of Finance in 2010, and became Head of Audit and Risk on the formation of Natural Resources Wales in 2013.
A serving magistrate, Martin sits on the Glamorgan Valleys bench. He is also a trustee of Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Trust, a governor and Chair of the Audit Committee at Coleg Gwent, and a governor and Vice Chair of his daughter’s primary school.
Martin lives in Pontypridd with his wife and daughter.
