Professor Donald Fraser qualified in medicine from Bristol University in 1993, before training and working in hospitals in Bristol, Manchester, North Wales and Cardiff.

Donald leads a laboratory in Cardiff University dedicated to understanding and improving care for people affected by kidney disease, and works as an honorary consultant physician in University Hospital of Wales and Royal Gwent Hospitals.

Donald’s other roles include Training Programme Director for the academic training programme WCAT (2017-), Deputy R and D Director for University Hospital of Wales (2016-), and a term as Chair of Kidney Research UK Grants Committee that he is about to complete (2018-20).
